Fear is the greatest
self-made obstacle in your life journey.
It can stop you, delay you, or send you off in the wrong direction. This
kind of fear comes from internal reactions, some of which are justified but
many of which are based on irrational sources.
Yet, there are times
when fear is appropriate: as a stimulus to action, to escape, or to change
behavior. For instance, if a mad dog arrives in your midst, your fear would be
justified. But in situations where there is no immediate or real threat, giving
in to fear can cause you to avoid an uncomfortable activity even though you
know it would be useful and productive.
Shyness and timidity
in approaching strangers or seeking help has limited many people in their life
journey. The sources of this fear are buried in the psyche, but in essence, it
is the fear of how people will react and what they will think. Consider fear as
a major roadblock that needs to be by-passed in your quest to achieve your best.
Questions for Self Reflection:
1.
What am I most afraid of? Is it a rational or
irrational fear?
2.
What do I intend to do about it?
3.
What is the most potent kind of fear for me?
